Check out movie "Gaslight". Our library has a DVD. It's 2-sided - 2 movies, actually, a 1940 and a 1944 versions. Ingrid Bergman plays a heiress whose husband brainwashes her into feeling crazy. So many techniques from the emotional abuser's list!

There is this very informative book on Narcissism that is written by a narcissist. I found it on the internet abut 5 years ago.

Go to www.healthyplace.com and then scroll down and click on Personality Disorders. Once you get to that page scroll down again and you will see a link for the articles called Malignant Self Love and click on that. There are tons of material to read. And who better to tell it like it is than a narcissist himself!

I read this book and found myself crying alot. For a long time I thought I was the crazy one. I constantly tried to please my father but just could do it. I spent decades thinking I'm not good enough for anyone to love. This book was fantastic and I'd highly recommend it.

Hi - I'm listing books that have been helpful to me - both with regard to narcissistic parents(s) and depression - they do not necessarily focus solely on the narcissist. In fact these are books that are more helpful to the child of the narcissist (I've paid enough attention to the narcissist my whole life. I'm learning as much about narcissists to the extent that it will hopefully help me understand and thus move on from them.)

NP - about narcissism
D - about depression

1. Trapped in the Mirror by Elan Golomb - NP - very well written, intelligent, insightful
2. Children of the Self-Absorbed by Nina Brown - NP - needs grammatical editing, which diltues credibility, but generally informative
3. Undoing Depression by Richard O'Connor - D - constructive solutions to helping depressives
4. Mindful Way Through Chronic Depression - Kabat-Zinn - D - Excellent recommendations on learning mindfulness as a way through depression - MUST READ!!! (includes CD on mindfulness techniques - kinda like meditation)
